Celebrate this Turkey Day with a night of "anarchy in the first chair" as the PRO rocks out to songs on their debut CD "Weapons of Mass Deconstruction," recorded at George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch. Classic punk tunes revisited by a stellar cast of classically trained musicians . . . now that's something to be thankful for!
And just who is the Punk Rock Orchestra?
In June 2002, an ad on the online bulletin board Craigslist asking for classical musicians interested in playing classic punk rock covers yielded a flood of responses. This was the birth of the world\u2019s only Punk Rock Orchestra, 50+ classical musicians using bassoons, cellos, timpani and more to play the classics of punk. Their set list is a journey through great punk bands: Dead Kennedys, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Suicidal Tendencies and so on, and they have played at such prestigious San Francisco venues as the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and the Herbst Theatre. Members have played for The Dead Kennedys, The Residents, The San Francisco Symphony, and The San Francisco Opera Chorus, to name only a few. As a testament to their novel sound and punk virtuosity, the Punk Rock Orchestra went to George Lucas\u2019 Skywalker Sound to record their album under the guidance of Grammy-Award winning engineer/mixer Leslie Ann Jones.
Please keep your ears tuned for a special gobble-gobble treat, the chillingly beautiful rendition of "Nazi Punks F**k Off." Arranged by composer Thomas Goss, this song is an operatic duet by singers Laurie Amat and Cindy Weyuker based on the Dead Kennedy's original lyrics with music from Leo Delibes' Flower Duet from "Lakme." T-shirts, buttons and stickers will also be available for your holiday shopping needs!

Warming up is RF, their song "Sunday Park" has been getting a lot of air play.
"RF... blends organic instrumentation (guitars, strings, horns) with subtle glitchwork and his own musical software. The result is an intricate lattice where each sound, be it from a plucked string or a click of the mouse, seems carefully and thoughtfully placed. Recently back from touring in Japan, Ryan Francesconi is currently at work on his 3rd full length CD for the Tokyo based Plop label."
